CHBE strives to maintain a safe, healthy and secure working environment for work and study. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The health and safety of all Department members including students, staff, faculty and visitors is a priority. Department members contribute to creating a healthy, safe environment by meeting UBC Policies and appropriate regulatory bodies.
The Department HSE Committee includes faculty, staff, and students who meet monthly to discuss Health, Safety and Environmental issues and opportunities for improvements, and to review any safety incidents that have occurred. The minutes of each meeting are posted on bulletin boards in the Department.
The Department provides Canvas orientations for all CHBE members. For undergraduate students, this is a key part of lab courses. For all other personnel, the presentations are provided at the beginning of the fall, winter and spring terms. If you have questions about how to attend the next planned HSE orientation, please contact safety@chbe.ubc.ca.
