Meet Clinton Large and Marc Apduhan, both UBC alumni from the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, who are making a difference in their respective fields. Both have been included in BC Business’ 30 Under 30. Clinton Large founded Large Tutoring in 2020, a thriving educational platform focused on inclusivity. Offering diverse classes for students of all ages, including those with learning disabilities, Large Tutoring has already helped 400 students achieve academic success, with projected revenues of $220,000 for 2023. Naoko Ellis Receives the 2023 PSRI Fluidization and Fluid Particle Systems Award

Prof Potvin named CEEA-ACÉG Fellow
Dr. Gabriel Potvin, an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at UBC, was recently named a Fellow of the Canadian Engineering Education Association – Association Canadienne d’Éducation en Génie (CEEA-ACÉG) at their national conference. New Course: APSC 367 Humanitarian Engineering: Politics and Practice
Humanitarian Engineering: Politics and Practice is a new, unique course jointly offered and co-taught by the Faculties of Applied Science and Arts (in which it is listed as POLI 371). In this course, students from engineering, political science, and international relations will work together in interdisciplinary teams on design projects to tackle real-world humanitarian and sustainability challenges, and explore engineering design and humanitarian interventions in a broader sociotechnical context.
