Congratulations to UBC Chem-E-Car, who had a successful trip to the 2024 AIChE Pacific Northwest Student Regional Conference, held at the University of Idaho on April 26 and 27, 2024.

The UBC Chem-E-car design team, along with other UBC students, travelled to Moscow Idaho to compete in the AIChE Pacific Northwest Student Regional Conference, an annual event that brings student leaders in chemical engineering together. The goal of the Chem-E-car competition is to build a shoebox-sized car that travels a specified distance.
One of the UBC Chem-E-car teams (Atom Destroyer) came in second place in the performance competition and have advanced to the AIChE Annual Chem-E-car Competition in November. The other Chem-E-car team (Chem-E-leon) won 3rd place in the poster competition.
Isabella Howley won 1st place in the oral presentation competition and 2nd place in the poster presentation competition, presenting her research work with bacterial cellulose and tannins from novel, biological sources to create bio-based materials with applications in smart textiles and filtration. As the 1st place recipient in the oral presentation competition, she has qualified to present at the AIChE Annual Meeting representing the Pacific Northwest region.
One of the UBC Jeopardy teams consisting of Victor Chen, Goksu Dilek, Bhavya Nagda and Hossam Ramadan took home 3rd place in that event.
Congratulations to all!
