Dr. Xiaotao Bi, Professor and Director of the Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC) at UBC, has received an award presented by the Engineering Thermochemistry Division in the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC). This annual award is bestowed upon a foreign researcher in recognition of their contribution to the engineering thermochemistry field in scientific research, technology development, and international collaboration.
This year, Dr. Bi was nominated by his colleagues in the China-Canada Bioenergy Network. He was recognized for his research contributions to biomass thermochemical conversion, including novel fluidized bed gasification and microwave-assisted fluidized bed pyrolysis reactors, which produce biofuels, biogases, and biochar. Additionally, his work encompasses life cycle impact assessments of bioenergy systems.
The award is presented to Dr. Bi at the Annual National Engineering Thermochemistry Conference. Congratulations to Dr. Bi!
