This week, the Faculty of Applied Science celebrated outstanding contributions across the faculty, with the UBC Engineering Dean’s Award. This year, three esteemed members of the Chemical and Biological Engineering department were recognized for their exceptional service and dedication.
Dr. Heather Trajano, Associate Professor, received the Dean’s Faculty Award for Service, specifically for her commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII). Dr. Trajano’s initiatives have significantly advanced the CHBE department’s EDII goals, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for students and staff alike.
Marlene Chow, Director of Academic Programs, Administration and Resources, was honored with the Staff Award for Excellence. Her outstanding contributions in leadership and student engagement have been pivotal in enhancing the academic experience within the department. Ken Wong, CHBE Lab Manager, was recognized with the Staff Award for Leadership. Ken’s exemplary leadership and dedication to service have greatly contributed to the smooth operation and success of the department. His commitment to excellence and his proactive approach to problem-solving have set a high standard for staff within CHBE.
