In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the profession of chemical and biological engineering, most notably for his leadership in developing and building FortisBC’s energy supply and delivery to customers in British Columbia, including natural gas, electricity, renewable and lower-carbon energy.  As an energy engineering and energy transformation leader in Canada and the Pacific Northwest, Joe Mazza advanced energy security, affordability, and sustainability through his efforts in the development of major projects, resource contracts, energy efficiency programs, and renewable energy portfolios. His work has helped to position Canada as a global leader and exemplar. This honour recognizes his service to our university, including his role on the CHBE Advisory Council, and exceptional service to our department and its students and alumni.
