CHBE Professor and Alumni win U of Ottawa Alumni Award of Excellence

Dr. David Wilkinson, Chemical & Biological Engineering professor, and Dr. Véronique Lecault, alumni of the Chemical & Biological Engineering Ph.D. program, have been honored with Alumni Awards from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science. These awards recognize individuals that play a major role in changing our society and contribute to breakthroughs that will significantly shape our future.


Dr. Wilkinson is the recipient of the 2021 Alumni Award of Excellence, which honours exemplary talent, work and influence of a University of Ottawa (UOttawa) graduate. Recipients demonstrate leadership and outstanding achievement in their field, and have enhanced the reputation of the Faculty of Science and of UOttawa


Dr. Lecault is the recipient of the 2021 Young Alumni Award of Excellence, which honours alumni 40 years of age or under who have made an outstanding contribution to their field or to the community, and inspire future generations of young UOttawa graduates by their example. Dr. Lecault received her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from UBC, where she co-invented the high-throughput microfluidic platform, which is part of the core technology of AbCellera, a company she co-founded and that she currently leads as Director and Chief Operating Officer.
